
Rosie Perez was born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964. She is an American actress. Her breakthrough was with Tina's role in Do the Right Thing (1989), then followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance on Fearless (1993) was rewarded with an award nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress along with other honors. Her starring film roles in the past include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008) as well as Birds of Prey (2020).Perez earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another Emmy nomination for her role in the film The Flight Attendant (2020-present). She has also been in Broadway plays, such as The Ritz and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. In the 18th season of the show, she was also a cohost on ABC's talk program The View. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. In 1999, her mother was in the poverty of Woodside Houses when she died from AIDS-related complications.
